English Learners in class

I've seen that the kids learning English in class are actually not too far behind. It helps that Mr. H speaks spanish as well. Obviously if it weren't for Brown vs Board and the end of segregation Mr. H wouldn't be as good of a teacher as he is. Part of being a good teacher is having a good situation and condition to teach. Ending segregation in the long run created a more positive learning environment for all people.

Concept Maps- Using summarization in class

 Mr. H often times starts the day off by saying: "Okay class this is what we are going to be doing today in class." Then gives a short list of concepts and only summarizes what will be done. Then at the end of class   he reminds the class in a short summary form of what they learned and talked about during that day. He gives a short and very simple summary and remind of concepts that the class learned about that day. 

 How has Mr. Herrerra made the students feel safe and loved? 

- I've noticed that he is always friendly smiling and laughing. His class seems to love how inclusive he is to all his students

How does he promote positivity in the classroom? 

- Like I said above he always seems to be smiling and bringing happiness to his students however I have also noticed that when a student is struggling he doesn't come down on them hard. Instead he lifts their spirits up and says "lets just try again"! 

Specific routines: 

The style of teacher Mr. H is makes it easy for class to get a little out of hand sometimes. It can be loud but the good thing is he is good at calling attention back to the class by clapping his hands twice then the class does the same.
